The Olympics

Like many others, I was outraged by the opening ceremony of the Paris olympics. It mocked the very heart of our Christian faith, namely the Eucharist. Those who tried to explain it called it 'inclusive' but this is a term we tend to use to excuse the inexcusable.

We excuse offensive pride parades, and transexual queens twerking in front of children in the mane of 'inclusivity and tolerance'. But when does our tolerance cross the boundary and become hurtful and offensive to others? Should we create a standard?

It seems that without standards any self proclaimed group can claim to be heard and to be included no matter how outrageous. If they are ignorned they will cite hate and discrimination! In schools we have washrooms for children who believe they are cats! We cannot say 'no' as that would be discrimanatory to the cat children.

However, there are many who are not tolerated. Bullies in school are not tolerated. This no doubt is offensive to the bullies and excludes them from expressing their opinions. Those who ascribe to two genders are also excluded and not tolerated in schools. Children have been expelled for that. Is that hatred? Is believing in evolution or two genders hateful? Who decides and who sets the standard? A child who believes they are a dog can arrive barking in their class. Who will teach us how to speak dog? What kind of dog? How can we communicate? If a child fancies themselves a fish do we provide the tank?

When I was three I fancied myself to be the Queen of England. That fantasy ended in a few days to be be replaced with my firm belief that I was superman!

When does tolerance for all degrade into tolerance for none? I believe were are at that point. We have degraded truth to mere opinion and to feeling. What is the current definition of truth is what we adopt. It is like playing a board game with five year olds where the rules are always changing.
